Why are YNG+ and YNG merging?
If you have been involved with YNG either at the local level or the global level, you may have experienced some confusion on what’s available and how to get involved.
We arrived at introducing the new YNG Community after a deep dive into all aspects of the two programs (YNG local and YNG+ global) and with feedback and guidance from many people including YNGers and their parents. We learned that a unified and structured offering would give participants a stronger community that is easier to access and easier to connect.
Plus, YPO will be better able to:
· Deliver a more consistent experience for YNGers regardless of their location.
· Enhance YNGers opportunities for collaboration and leadership with organized governance, resources and guidance.
· Provide and support a more professionally managed brand with refreshed logos and brand guide.
Yes, YPO Global Board of Directors made the decision to create a single YNG brand that encompasses all YNG opportunities. Your member parent will need to enroll you in the YNG Community benefit during renewals for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. Along with continuing your participation in a city-based group, you’ll have access to many additional benefits.
is there a fee to participate in my city-based group?
Yes, with the decision to form one YNG community that encompasses all the benefits and opportunities it will offer, the YPO Global Board of Directors also determined that it will be fee-based for all. The YPO member-parent will need to enroll eligible children in the YNG Community benefit during renewals for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. Along with continuing your participation in a city-based group, you will have access to many additional benefits.
What are some of the benefits available through the new YNG Community?
With the fusion of YNG and YNG+, you will have access to many offerings, including:
· A dynamic new YNG Community site with access to all relevant YNG information, directory, events, city-based opportunities, discussion feeds, messaging features and the job and internship portal.
· Dedicated city-based micro-sites where YNG leaders can share information with those closest to home, share group updates and check out event information.
· Access to connect with interest-based groups through the YNG Community site where you can start conversations and see related programs and events.
· Event marketing capabilities through the YNG Community site which maximizes promotion of and increasing visibility to events.
· Dedicated YPO support to advocate and bridge groups around the globe with the YPO and YNG Community in partnership with local YPO chapters and the YPO management team.
· Access to global offerings including in-person and virtual programs, virtual mentoring, jobs and internships portal and more.
· Expanded forum training support so you can tap into the forum experience regardless of where you live.
· Visibility across all YNG groups — both by city and by interest — making networking and connecting a breeze.
· Access to select YPO member-led networks programming from large format live calls to intimate professional groups.
· Digital directory with profiles of your YNG Community peers.
· Global leadership opportunities to serve on the YNG Community executive committee, champion events and serving as a leader of a city-based group.
· A fully YNG branded experience with YPO-provided logos and brand library.
I have only been part of YNG+. What does a YNG city-group provide?
The beauty of a YNG city-group is the ability to connect in-person and meet up, either for professional programming or personal connections. While some city-groups offer an organized experience, some seek additional support to deliver high-impact programming and access to resources, like forum training. If you have not been involved with a YNG local group before, you can look forward to:
· Local area networking, meeting new friends and making professional connections.
· City-based learning and social events planned by a YNG City Leader.
· Opportunities to connect with YPO members with access to select YPO chapter events.
· Opportunities to strengthen your leadership skills by serving as a leader of a city-based group.
Are city-based groups still allowed to charge a fee for events?
Yes, City-based groups are encouraged continue to organize their own events and are allowed to host user-pay events.
Will budget be allocated for city-based groups?
There will be opportunities to apply for funding to support innovative events and initiatives.
What sort of management support will my city-based group receive?
With the expansion of the YNG offerings comes an expansion of the YPO management associates available to support you and your city-based group. The YPO management team will support you with membership questions, guidance on technical requests and your micro-site, recommendations for fostering connections and aiding in navigating the YPO member-side of your experience. YPO will also manage your membership verification through the enrollment process.
Will YNG local participants need to pay the annual $295 fee?
The YPO Global Board of Directors maintains that YNG be funded solely by enrollment fees with no additional budget from YPO. The annual $295 enrollment fee supports IT infrastructure, programming, dedicated management associates and offsets expensive Forum training. There will be processes in place for YNG groups to request funding for local programming and opportunities, and it will be reviewed and approved by the YNG Community ExCo.
